Letters to the editor: Fairfield U: Falling from reach school to safety

To the Editor: As parents of a graduate of the class of 2000, who is currently an MBA candidate at Fairfield, and of a student in the class of 2006, we were dismayed when we learned that Fairfield's acceptance rate this year was close to 75 percent. Our fear is that Fairfield's reputation is going to be diminished and that high school seniors will look at Fairfield as a safety instead of a target or reach school.

As an avid fan of his Sunday morning news program, Meet the Press, the longest-running show in television history, I anticipated this as being the most relevant Forum of my four years here at Fairfield.

Andrea Hevia '06 has spent four years at Fairfield without many minority professors to help serve as role models for her and other students.

Ritchie awarded Fairfield University Employee Choice Award
