Pizzeria Uno is unlike any pizza place I’ve ever been too. It strays from the norm, with a menu that includes pizza, salads, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, and desserts.

Uno’s is spacious. Its walls are decorated with cute signs and pictures. It’s similar to eating at Ruby Tuesday’s or T.G.I.Friday’s. They don’t deliver, but you can order your food to go.

Pizzeria Uno specializes in deep-dish pizza. They also make thin crust and individual pan pizzas. The individual pizzas serve one, and trust me, you won’t want to share.

Specialty pizzas such as Chicken Fajita, topped with chicken, salsa, peppers, onions and cheese, and Portabella Chicken, with mushrooms, garlic, chicken, with cheddar and mozzarella cheese are the best choices.

Definitely start off with an appetizer. The Chicago Sampler ($8.29) includes buffalo wings, chicken fingers, cheese sticks, french fries and onion rings. Don’t even think about eating this one yourself, there’s enough in the platter to serve three. Quesadillas, nachos, pizza skins, and garlic bread are some other choices.

Stay away from the pasta dishes. Just think of a fast food place making fettuccine-yeah, I’m cringing too. If you’re willing to dare the order, they do make a variety of pasta topped with chicken, shrimp, and vegetables.

Opting for a burger or sandwich is a better idea. Sandwich choices include Steak and Cheese ($7.89), Turkey Bacon Swiss ($7.59), and Grilled Chicken Breast ($7.59). All sandwiches and burgers come with pickles, coleslaw, and a choice of fries or a vegetable—get the fries!

Uno’s has a delectable dessert menu, where you can drool over the various selections. The All American (apple crisp with ice cream and whipped cream) and the Cookie Blast (cookies, whipped cream, ice cream, and chocolate syrup) are served in large mugs with a spoon. Also try the Oreo cheesecake, or the Cappuccino Cake-yummy.

While the prices are kind of expensive for a college student’s income, go there for good food when you want to eat off campus, and you’ve been to Joe’s one too many times.
