Fairfield University is full of gold digging girls. But yes, Fairfield is also full of rich preppy boys who have spent their entire life using their charm and most importantly their money to get exactly what they want. They came to the right place.

In one sentence I could redeem myself and say that the men are supposed to pay for everything. If this were the case, there would be no dating, no relationships and most definitely no sanity on campus.

Another question for you, ladies… Have you ever paid for alcohol or any other type of party favor since your freshmen year?

Maybe it’s just me, but I think a healthy balance in payment, whether it be for dinner, the movies, the booze, whatever, is key in a male/female relationship. Girls need to pay for things, guys need to pay for things and we can all live happy together.

Balance is the key. Say for instance a guy takes a girl out for a nice, classy dinner and the two see a romantic chick-flick afterwards. Rico Suave has paid for everything thus far… I would say in the range of about $65-75. With the on-campus jobs here, that is at least 10 or 11 hours of working for about four hours of spending… That leaves at least six hours left to be made up. Girls, you know what to do.

But now consider this… A girl takes her man out to what he considers a good meal. Super Duper Weenie is definitely a safe bet. She then decides that the batting cages would be a good equivalent to a chick-flick that they saw last weekend. She’s a keeper, but just watch, she’s smart also. I’ve done this before and I would say that the total amount spent on both people for hot dogs, fries, sodas and some cage time is close to $25-30. That is more than half the amount the man spent.

Does this mean that in male/female relationships, there will never be a balance? It’s tough to say.

There would be no balance if us guys just wanted to eat hot dogs and fries all the time… But we don’t. We like to be waited on, we like to be pampered and we definitely like to go to the movies.

However, it seems to me that having a girl pay for a $50 dinner is just wrong. I almost feel un-manly handing the check to her. Plus, there is definitely no reciprocation waiting in the wings.

Whatever you lovebirds out there agree on is fine. Guys, just hold your ground. And girls, remember one word: Reciprocation. Oh, and for the gold diggers who have never heard that word, figure it out… We’re waiting.
