Katherine Petta, a junior English/Sociology major here at Fairfield, is helping prospective students get a better idea of what daily life at Fairfield is like. Her “Weekly Student Journal” which can be found on the Admissions homepage, highlights the activities, academics, and social aspects of her life at Fairfield.

While interning in the admissions office, Debra Johns, the associate director of admissions, proposed the journal to Katherine, basing the idea on what other schools such as Wheaton College and Colgate University have started doing.

The journal, which Petta writes on Wednesdays and refers to as “personal yet informal,” emphasizes the positive aspects of life at Fairfield and is designed to let prospective students know what it might be like to be a student here.

Petta, a native of Needham, Massachusetts, enjoys writing the journal and sees it not only as an opportunity to write, but also as her chance to reach out to students.

Katherine just hopes that “students will get something out of it and that the journal will spark some interest in Fairfield.”
