Trying to be remembered for more than catchy pop/punk songs, Fall Out Boy will be making history this week as the only band to perform on all seven continents in less than nine months.

To obtain this record, the band will be performing at King George Island, a scientific colony in Antarctica, on Wednesday.

The show, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, was postponed for one day due to bad weather.

Greenpeace, as well as a Guinness Book of World Records representative who will present the award, will accompany the emo quartet on its trip.

A film crew will also accompany the band, not just to document the historic event, but also to help bring awareness to viewers on global warming.

The idea for the trip was originally conceived by the band’s bass player, Pete Wentz.

“I was sitting around and wrote Bob McLynn (Fall Out Boy’s manager) an e-mail saying, ‘Lets be the first band to go to all five continents,’ only he wrote me back saying, ‘There are seven,'” said Wentz in an interview with MTV News .

While Wentz may not be a genius when it comes to geography, he certainly knows how to publicize his band.

With a half a dozen top-10 singles, a hefty number of awards and 10 million records sold, this Guinness World Record is just one more thing Fall Out Boy can put under its belt.
