Many college students simply choose not to vote in elections because they won’t be home to vote.’ These students either don’t know or choose to ignore the option of filling out an absentee ballot. This is an extremely easy process, and should be utilized by every college student.’

It’s even easier when your University sets up an absentee ballot desk in the student center. To make voting more accessible, Fairfield is doing just that.’ This week, an Absentee Ballot ‘amp; Voter Registration Drive is being held in the BCC Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here, you can get registered to vote at home by absentee ballot, or register to vote in Connecticut. Bring your State ID when you plan to sign up at the table.

Don’t be lazy: For most of us, this is our first election. The actions of the 44th President will determine the atmosphere of the country when we graduate and when we are entering the job market.

Besides being proactive about registering to vote, it is equally important to be aware of the issues that face America today:

Which candidate can I imagine enacting a foreign policy of which I agree?

Which candidate do I see helping the economy?

Which candidate shares my beliefs on social issues?

These are the kinds of questions students should be asking themselves as the election approaches.’ Although that fatal day seems light years away, it’s only 35 days away. So, get registered and vote!
