Enough of this attitude that Fairfield students are somehow sub-par when it comes to academic prowess. Fairfield University has just been honored with 14 nominations for Fulbright grants. These students have been nominated by the United Sates to go abroad to further international relations through education, research or teaching.

These students worked hard on their applications and over the past four years, proving to a federal review board that they were worthy of such an honor. I applaud all of you, and am envious of the amazing experiences you have in front of you.

Congratulations to you and the university for receiving such honors. I encourage all underclassmen to follow these outstanding seniors’ lead and go abroad, see what the world has to offer, because the best lessons learned are far from the campus of Fairfield. The 14 Fairfield students who have been nominated by the U.S. for Fulbrights are:

Gerald Abbey James Allwein Christine Carpino John Chenier James DiGuglielmo Mary Claire Finnen Brian Gosselin Aelee Kwon Stephanie Medvigy Michael Mercer Jacob Novak Maura O’Connor Jessica Viner Kristine Walentik
