Underage drinking laws reduced

The punishment for bars in the D.C. area violating underage drinking laws has been reduced. The old policy included a two-day suspension of liquor licenses and a hefty fine of $1,000.
The change in the law was to allow for a slap on the wrist for first timer offender’s mistakes. A written warning will be delivered to bars that mistakenly serve underage clientele.
The second offense results in the same punishment as the old policy. Of age Tico Del Castillo ’10 does not see this new law change affecting much,
‘With the exception of one bar in the area, on any given night you can get into a bar with a fake ID, if that is already the case, I cannot imagine it getting any worse.’
