Men’s Basketball just falling short: Despite coming out strong in the first half against Loyola University Chicago, the men’s basketball team fell short 83-72 Saturday night at the Arena at Harbor Yard. Leading the Stags was senior Michael Van Schaick who tallied a career-high 23 points for the Stags. The men are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 2, against St. Francis (N.Y.) at Alumni Hall.

On the road again: The Stags just fell short, 64-58, to ACC competitor Boston College Tuesday night at Conte Forum. Leading Fairfield was junior Meka Werts who posted 15 points, 9 of them in the second half. Also posting doubles for the game was Sabra Wrice ’08 with 11 points and Baendu Lowenthal ’09 had 10 points on the night. Continuing the Stags eight-game road trip, they will travel to Florida State for the Lady Pirate Classic to play Florida State on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 PM.

Taking the plunge: Although Fairfield’s diving team swept the competition, the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving team still could not edge Iona on Tuesday at the RecPlex. The women fell, 123-114, while the men’s team were edged 143-94. Despite the loss senior Brittany Hunter was a triple-winner capturing the 1500m freestyle with a time of 18:10.49, the 200m individual medley with a time of 2:29.38 and 400m freestyle with a time of 4:41.74. The Stags are back in action this weekend, Dec. 1-2, in Rhode Island for the Harold Anderson Invitational.
