Bravo to “Cabaret”!

To the Editor: I would like to personally congratulate all those who were involved in the production of "Cabaret." Fairfield University should give the theater department more funding so that they can put on musicals annually. "Cabaret" was sold out all throughout the weekend, and it is apparent that the student body was very excited about this show.

Men’s soccer belongs on page 1

To the Editor: I think it is interesting that The Mirror has always had stories about student apathy for Fairfield events. Fairfield men's soccer team is now ranked 24th in the nation, and you have to turn inside the sports section to find the story. A story about a student's father being arrested makes the front page.

Give student athletes a break

To the Editor: I was upset to see that yet again one of your journalists was attacking the student athletes on campus and the athletic program in general. As a former Resident Assistant for Fairfield University (2000-2002), I "wrote up" many students that happened to be breaking University policy.

Administration jeopardizing mission

To the Editor: We would like to express our disappointment with the administration's choice to honor Richard Boucher, the deputy director of the White House Office for Faith-Based Initiatives, at the opening of the new Center for Faith and Public Life. Our administration should not be taking sides in the political arena.

Fans of the original gore-fest should see “Saw” sequel

by Marie Montgomery What do you have when "Fear Factor" meets "Survivor?" You have "Saw II," the sequel to last years "Saw." The story only varies slightly from its original. Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), a cancer stricken psycho who wants to make people appreciate life, uses his super genius powers to round up a group of people and trap them in a house.

A political rebel and a youthful raunchy guitarist. Some may think of this as a skit on Saturday Night Live or a coming-of-age tale where two seemingly opposite friends find out that they are not so different after all. In fact it was just stand-up comedy.

Some students fear acoustic problems will affect Guster show

by Kevin Schneider Excitement ran wild through residence halls Oct. 3 when students heard that Guster would be performing at Alumni Hall on Nov. 10. But countering the excitement was the worry of older students that this concert, like others, would be another victim of the horrid acoustics of Alumni Hall.

Fairfield reacts to U.S. colleges requiring study abroad experience

by Elizabeth Bae Fairfield University students who have studied abroad refer to it as one of the most fulfilling experiences of their lives. But would these students feel the same way if studying abroad was a requirement instead of a choice? Starting next fall, incoming freshmen at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, will be required to spend a minimum of three weeks abroad in order to graduate.
