Fusing together hip hop, tap, jazz, ballet and all types of dance, Fairfield’s Dance Ensemble is ready to showcase months of hard work in “Vogue: Express Yourself.”

“We have been preparing since September, when we held auditions. After auditions, we got right to work taking classes and teaching [and] learning choreography,” said Allison Emde ’06, a member of Dance Ensemble.

With all of its different styles, the show includes something for everyone.

“The show is high-paced and gives the audience a little bit of everything,” said Emde.  “If someone dreads ballet, don’t worry, a hip-hop dance to one of your favorite songs is right around the corner.”

They [students] are also able to see their peer’s talent,” said Dance Ensemble Captain Megan Daly ’06, “which I might say is exceptionally amazing this year!”

Daly is excited about the opportunity of performing with friends.

“I think the most exciting part of the performance is the fact that I am dancing with my best friends,” she said. “Knowing that we pieced the show together on our own and get to show it to our family, friends and the Fairfield community is something that keeps us all smiling.”

The show will be held in the Quick Center on April 7, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students.
