Horror fanatics seeking a heart pounding, nail-biting movie marathon can get their fair share of scare this Sunday at the Community Theater in Fairfield. The theater is hosting a horror movie marathon all day on Halloween, and the best part is it won’t cost you a cent.

Starting at noon, the theater will show seven different Halloween-themed movies, progressing from children’s movies early in the day to an NC-17 film at night. Although admission is free, the theater always accepts donations.

For the finale, the Community Theater is featuring a film previously unreleased in the United States, sure to live up to its NC-17 rating. The rest of the films, however, are pretty much classics and the perfect remedy for anyone craving a little scare this Halloween.

The Community Theater is located on Post Road in downtown Fairfield and boasts a twin screen theater with a digital DVD screen.

The donations the theater collects on Sunday will go to the continue of its operation and help to further its facilities. A portion of the proceeds will go to local charities such as Operation Hope.

Though most students had not heard about the horror movie marathon this weekend, many agreed that it is a good idea.

“It gives students a chance to get off campus and do something fun for free,” said Nicole Lambert ’08.

And which movie does most students think sounds most appealing?

“I’d go see ‘Halloween.’ It’s a classic, it has Jamie Lee Curtis, and it’s free,” said Ben Welch ’08. Many students also agreed that ‘Haute Tension’ sounded interesting as well.

Katherine Petta ’05 said, “I had not heard about the scary movie marathon, but I think it’s a great idea. Hopefully there will be a good showing.”
