If you are lucky enough to be a member of the class of 2003, a festivity-filled senior week is in store for you. As is Fairfield tradition, senior week will run from May 13-18 and will offer many opportunities for students and faculty to say goodbye to each other.

In keeping with this year’s festivities, each activity has been given a theme of a celebration.

The first activity of the week will be the Jesuit social, which has been themed May Day. It will take place on Bellarmine Field, and admission is free. Students are encouraged to come and socialize with the Jesuits one last time, sharing wine and cheese, and dancing around the May Pole.

Tuesday night at the Levee will be Pub Night, which has been themed Oktoberfest. Seniors can toast each other while enjoying music, food and beer, and dancing the night away.

The senior brunch, which will be in the main dining room in Barone, is themed Cannes Film Festival. Students and administration are invited to dine together and enjoy an elegant buffet. The dedication of the yearbook, honoring of teacher of the year and induction into the Alumni Association will also take place.

On Wednesday, there is a trip to Mohegan Sun for casino night. The theme of casino night is March Madness. Seniors will have the chance to go on one last trip together before graduation.

The senior picnic, themed Olympiad, is at the Holiday Hill Resort.

“In the past, the senior picnic and semi-formal have been on campus,” said chairperson of the week, Christine Carpino. “It’s a little different this year. They’ll be held off campus, and I think the change in venue will be a great asset to the week.”

A semi-formal dance at the Trumbull Marriott will be held on Friday. The theme for the dance is Carnival. Students can enjoy a night of dancing, entertainment and hors d’oeurves.

While seniors are looking forward to spending their last days of college with friends, the family dance themed Hukilau will give students the opportunity to get their families involved as well. Dressed in Hawaiian shirts and hula skirts, seniors can say goodbye Hawaiian-style.

The last event of the week will be the senior farewell, themed Chinese New Year. Seniors can celebrate new beginnings and reminisce about old times.

Many have been involved in coordinating this year’s senior week, especially the juniors who will serve on the staff of events.

“The board this year are amazing people without whom this week could not have occurred,” said Carpino.

“We are really excited about the whole experience,” said Carpino. “We have a great team and this is going to be a wonderful week!”
