There are a ton of delis we know of and constantly go to in Fairfield for a great wrap or satisfying sandwich. DELIcious delicatessen & catering, located at 873 Post Road, tends to be overlooked due to its location in a shopping center.

This deli offers a variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and burgers, prepared right in front of you and to your liking.

You can choose to have your sandwich on a roll or a wrap. You can choose to have whole wheat bread or rye bread. You can choose to have your sandwich pressed or toasted. You can substitute grilled chicken for a chicken cutlet. Anything you desire, you can have.

The pricing is very reasonable alongside the portions. The entire menu is less than $8.00.

Chris O’ Reilly ’11 says, “It’s a shame that more students don’t know about this place because their sandwiches are rather distinguishable.”

Some of their signature sandwiches include the Buffalo Chicken Cutlet, the Chicken Cobb Sandwich, the Tuna Waldorf, and the Stuffed Turkey.

I would personally recommend the Mozza Pesto, $6.95, which includes chicken cutlet, mozzarella, roasted red peppers and pesto mayo on ciabatta bread.

However, since I like things done my way, I asked them to include bacon and avocado, and press it on a whole wheat wrap. If you are not a big chicken cutlet fan (which I’m not) I would recommend substituting it for grilled chicken.

The Chicken Fajita wrap is the perfect lunch for your stomach and your wallet, at only $6.75.

I would also recommend the Chicken Fajita wrap, $6.75, which includes sautéed peppers and onions, seasoned chicken, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and sour cream on a wrap.

They also have a few breakfast sandwiches, French toast and omelettes. The Sloppy Mess ($4.50) includes eggs, sausage, bacon, fried tomato, and beans in a wrap. The Adams Benedict ($4.35) includes two fried eggs, cheese, ham, bacon and hollandaise sauce between a split English muffin.

The atmosphere resembles a cafeteria because it is simple and laid back. The staff is patient, friendly, and extremely hospitable. When they are not really busy, they will bring your food to your table. You can watch television from the big screen television hanging from the wall or discuss plans for the weekend while you wait for your food.

Since the sandwiches are made fresh and will exceed your expectations, do not expect to be in and out in five minutes. I would definitely suggest going when you are not pressed for time so that you can thoroughly enjoy your meal.

DELIcious is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. — 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.— 2 p.m.. So the next time your are getting your nails done at Coco’s or driving around trying to find a place out of your norm, try DELIcious and your experience will be nothing but “delicious.”
