The hardest part about fashion trends is keeping up. One minute your brown peasant skirt is the hottest thing, being seen on the runways of Paris, and the next minute, people think you look homelier than Mary-Kate Olsen.

That’s why this fall the trends are some of the easiest to master. You can wear almost anything and still be in style.

In case you haven’t picked up the latest issue of any fashion magazine, this season is all about layering.

Layering, once an annoying way your mom dressed you to keep warm, is now the best way to stay in style. Thanks to the layering trend a lot of summer styles can still be warn into fall.

Got a cute dress this summer you can’t bear to part with yet? Wear it over a turtleneck or a long-sleeved shirt and slip into one of the season’s most successful accessories… leggings.

Leggings have been seen on every “it” girl from Lindsay Lohan to Kirsten Dunst.

“My favorite accessory this season is definitely leggings, because you can wear them from day into night,” says Julia Poli ’08.

Don’t feel like getting dressed for class? A chic alternative to sweatpants and a sweatshirt can be leggings paired with an oversized cardigan or sweater.

The most popular accessory seen on and off campus has definitely been the waist-cinching belt. Not only is it very flattering, but it also adds the perfect touch to an outfit.

Although there’s a whole list of “out” trends to match the “in” trends, no one is expected to follow it perfectly.

However, you may want to hide some items in the back of your closet or send them home, such as little handbags. It’s all about bags that coincide with your busy college life and therefore can hold everything you could ever need all at once.

The “Bohemian” look has also seen its days.

Say goodbye to pastel colors, and welcome the rich, vibrant colors and looks of fall.
