This Saturday, the Stags square off against St. Francis College (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at 7 pm in Alumni Hall.

Fairfield has a 1-8 overall record and still has not played a conference game. St. Francis has an 0-7 overall record and is 0-1 in the Northeast Conference.

So far this season for St. Francis, guard/forward Robert Hines and guard Jamaal Womack have carried the team both offensively and defensively.

Hines is the Terriers’ leading scorer, averaging 14.6 points per game. Earlier in November, he scored a season-high 20 points against Texas-El Paso.

Womack is second on the list in offense with 9.4 points per game.

On defense, Hines leads the team with 5.7 rebounds per game.

Coming into Saturday’s game for the Stags is freshman forward and two-time MAAC Rookie of the Week Greg Nero with a team-high 13.8 points per game.

Joining him in double figures with 11.3 is senior Mike Van Schaick, who had the hot hand last Saturday against Loyola of Chicago, notching a personal best 23 points.

Nero also leads the Stags on the boards, currently averaging 4.3 rebounds per game.

To win, the Stags will have to fend off both Hines and Womack.

In their NEC opener this past Wednesday versus Central Connecticut State University, the two played almost the entire game and each reached double-figures in points.

Overall, the Terriers shot .650 from the foul line and .383 from the field.

For the season, St. Francis is shooting .351 from the field, while opponents have hit for .480.

In their histories, St. Francis and Fairfield have faced each other 22 times. The Stags lead the series, 13 contests to 9.
