We all know that the best movies are big-budget blockbuster studio extravaganzas. They really can't miss, and if you don't believe me, just look at films like "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", "Collateral Damage" and "Wild Wild West". See? Can't miss.

Hours after returning from my freshman year of college, I had the first of many run-ins with a Hometowner. A Hometowner is a person with the dangerous ability to look at you, and instantly reduce you to feeling twelve years old again. They can come in the guise of an old teacher, a best friend from the sandbox or even that kid who had more slap bracelets than you did in second grade.

I thought I knew everything there was to know about guys before I came to college. I had the stereotypical high school relationships that I thought would end in luxurious weddings. Then I got to college and those previous relationships were a comedic flop.

Back in high school I did not know too much about females. I'll be honest, I was interested in a bunch of girls; I just didn't want to take the time to put up with their crap. In college I had the privilege of meeting a countless number of girls my age, and I have come to many conclusions about them.

So busy with classes, Fairfield students and professors don't often have time to read a book of their choice. But many have made time for one special book. Out for over a year, "The Da Vinci Code", is still on this month's New York Times Best Seller's list.

After two weeks of living in the library with an IV of coffee dripping into your arm, the end of finals cannot come soon enough. You race to pack up your car and head home to a summer filled with trips to the beach and catching up with friends from high school.

About a month ago, I received an invitation from an organization asking me to be part of a committee that will collect money from my class when we become seniors. The money will be donated to the school in the form of a "gift." Correct me if I'm wrong, but a gift is not solicited.

As another academic year winds to a close, Fairfield University must prepare to face one of its biggest changes in a quarter century as Rev. Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J. steps down and Rev. Jeffrey von Arx, S.J. becomes Fairfield's new president. No one knew what to expect when Kelley was first inaugurated in 1979 and took control as president.
