To the Editor: Three weeks ago, the Archdiocese of Boston ceased its involvement with the state of Massachusetts adoption agency…with regard to Catholic Charities ability to place children in same sex households, a violation of the state's anti-discrimination policy.

A “Crash” course in the Academy Awards

The entire night rested upon one moment: the Best Picture Oscar...and the Oscar went to "Crash," the movie with the biggest cast, took home the gold of the Academy Awards. It also took the Oscar for Best Editing and Best Original Screenplay, the insider theory being that "Crash" won because the cast made up most of the voting population.

Saying goodbye to “Flavor of Love”

The long journey for love is coming to an end for Flavor Flav in the "Flavor of Love." For those of you who have not been secretly rushing home to watch Flavor Flav get his mack on, The Mirror is here to catch you up to speed for the final episode. Flava Flav, who originally got his fame from being a member of Public Enemy, has been playing the reality scene on VH1 for a while with the "The Surreal Life 3" and "Strange Love.

Beach resident bites back

To the Editor: As a beach area resident I wish to address several points of Ms. Lynch's "injunction" against myself and my fellow residents. I don't have a ride on mower, landscaper, snotty kids, nanny, failing marriage nor a high powered job. I do have a walk behind mower, an adorable daughter, beautiful wife and a successful business.

Civil liberty breach at beach?

To the Editor: If landlords are willing to deny the right to private property for their tenants in the interest of public safety, then they ought to impose the same restriction to their rights during the summer. If First Selectman Kenneth Flatto believes the police should have access to this private property whenever wrongdoing is suspected, then that should hold in the summer.

Steven Soderbergh takes “Bubble” beyond the box office

Steven Soderbergh, getting back to his independent film roots, is creating a series of six films shot entirely using high definition technology and releasing them simultaneously on DVD, television and in theaters. The goal of the experiment is to prove a point in the film industry.

Without the Grape, seniors flock to Mug Night

by Mark Servidio Last Thursday, the Grape was still closed, but the Levee was open for business as usual, and it was Senior Mug Night once again. Like the very first Mug Night held last semester, this past Mug Night had a large turnout. Approximately 195 students attended throughout the evening, according to Joe Ginese, a graduate assistant who helped orchestrate the event.

Letters to the editor: “Athletic success directly affects the school’s reputation”

To the Editor: As season ticket holders for Fairfield basketball, and loyal supporters of Fairfield University and all Stag sports, we were appalled by the actions following half-time of the men's basketball game against Manhattan on Friday night. After a large number of student athletes were recognized for their academic achievements, many of these same students left the arena immediately and failed to return to support the team.
