Cold shooting costs men’s basketball against Siena

The Fairfield Stags shooting was as cold as the weather outside on Friday night as they lost their fifth straight game, falling to the Siena Saints 74-61 at the Arena at Harbor Yard. As a team Fairfield (2-7, 0-1 MAAC) shot 38.5 percent from the floor, while Siena (4-3, 1-0 MAAC) hit 49 percent from the field.

Beloved Fairfield Professor is Remembered

The Fairfield community was hit hard last week with the death of Professor Robert Bolger. Bolger was a member of Fairfield's first graduating class in 1951. He returned to the university in September of 1954 after completing graduate school and joined the faculty, teaching in the Mathematics and Computer Sciences Department. He retired in May 2005.

Men’s basketball drops four straight

The men's basketball team had a chance to win but for the fourth-straight time, the Stags failed to wrap up the victory, losing 70-66 to Yale in overtime in front of a sold-out Alumni Hall, including a packed student section of close to 1,000 students. "This was a very disappointing loss," said Head Coach Ed Cooley.

A Regis Hall first floor resident went to bed Friday night expecting nothing more than to sleep in late on Saturday morning. But the resident was awoken by an incident that he will not soon forget. "Saturday morning; it was about 2:30 a.m.," said the student, who was granted anonymity.

Defensive demons: Women’s basketball continues strong start

Stephanie Geehan '10 leapt up, controlled the tip and sent the ball toward point guard Megan Caskin '09. Caskin moved the ball around and eventually a pass from Sabra Wrice '08 found its way back to Geehan who hit a jumper. On the next possession, Wrice picked off a pass from Maine's Emily Rousseau and dribbled down the court but missed a layup in traffic.

Public Safety responds to Regis Hall altercation

Students woke up Monday morning to find bright red signs alerting them of a warning issued by Public Safety and a StagWeb e-mail explaining the incident that occurred in Regis Hall early Saturday morning. Public Safety and the dean's office responded quickly after the incident occurred, calling it a lesson for students.
